Washington, DC--The deadline to become a Certified Retailer for DTV
Converter Box Coupon Program is March 31, 2008. To apply for
certification, retailers must register and create an account with the
Department of Commerces National Telecommunications and Information
Administration (NTIA).
Beginning February 17, 2009, U.S. televisions stations will stop
broadcasting analog signals and will exclusively broadcasting
digitally. The transition to digital - the most significant TV
advancement since color - will transform the viewing experience.
The NTIA is administrating the Digital Television Converter Box Coupon
Program. This group encourages the voluntary participation of consumer
electronics retailers to ensure the success of the coupon program.

for additional information on the program requirements and to sign up
as a participating retailer.
As of January 1, 2008, households can request coupons through the
Digital Television Converter Box Coupon Program. Coupons are worth $40
each, to be used toward the purchase of up to two coupon-eligible
converter boxes. Converter boxes will allow analog televisions to
continue working with over-the-air broadcasts after February 17, 2009,
when full power television stations convert to all-digital signals.
Households can request coupons until March 31, 2009 or while supplies last.
