Los Angeles, CA -- Three LCD has solidified its leadership position in
the U.S. front projection market with an nine-point unit share lead
over competitors in the first quarter of 2008, according to Pacific
Media Associates (PMA). Products based 3LCD technology kicked off 2008
with 54 percent total U.S. market share. In addition to a strong
overall market lead, 3LCD leads in all three front projection channels
according to PMAs monthly tracking reports covering the pro AV,
distribution, and retail channels.
For 3LCD, this is the fourth consecutive year-year, same-quarter gain
in the U.S. market. Share gains from Epson, Hitachi, Sony, and Sanyo
contributed substantially to the impressive 3LCD technology growth in
the first quarter. On the product level, 3LCD held leading positions in
the critically important SVGA and XGA segments in the Professional
market and 1080p in the home theater market.
"Three LCD technology certainly started off the year with a strong
quarter in the U.S. market," said PMA's Michael Abramson. "It is a
significant testament to both 3LCD technology and the companies that
use it. The market is showing strong demand for what they are offering."
Three LCD technology utilizes a three-chip optical engine to process
and output bright, vivid colors with no rainbow effect. The optical
engine also has a solid-state design, which eliminates the risk of any
mechanical issues with moving parts. With its outstanding color,
brightness and detail, 3LCD delivers outstanding image quality to
classrooms, board rooms and home theaters across the nation. LCD
technology overall continues to lead in all major display product
categories including flat panels, monitors and laptop displays.
The market share growth 3LCD is experiencing is based strongly on the
advantages it has over other technologies, said Rina Bhuva, senior
strategic marketing manager, 3LCD Technology. Leading projector OEMs
continue to choose 3LCD, because they know projector buyers are looking
for superior image quality and reliability.
3LCD manufacturers are driving the market through a broad range of
innovation, from short throw and WXGA products lens shift capabilities
and low energy usage.
