On-Q’s Video Door Unit

By RS Staff, December 3, 2008

Harrisburg, PA -- On-Q/Legrand has announced the availability of the Selective Call Intercom Video Door Unit, a new addition to the Selective Call Intercom System released earlier this year.  In addition to all the capabilities of a standard intercom door unit, the Video Door Unit includes a wide angle, low lux color camera that displays the face of the guest at the front door.  And, like all On-Q products, it’s based on simple Cat-5 cabling and features efficient plug-and-play configuration.

On-Q’s Video Door Unit has a wide-angle low 0.2 lux color camera that delivers a crisp, image in both low light and bright light conditions.  Due to the camera’s wide viewing area, the video door unit can be installed on either side of the door with no need for side-to-side camera adjustments. This also means that the Video Door Unit can be installed in a new home without power, a scenario common in new construction.

If the Video Door Unit is connected to On-Q’s LCD Console, a button press allows the LCD to automatically display who is at the front door, making it easy for the homeowner to use.  And, because there is no programming involved, the Video Door Unit is easy for the installer to set up as well.

In addition, installers can upgrade an existing Selective Call System just by replacing the current Door Unit with the new Video Door Unit. The Selective Call Intercom module has a composite video output, eliminating the need for an additional camera module in the enclosure.  It’s compatible with a host of output options such as On-Q’s LCD Console, an IP video server, or any TV with On-Q’s new TV Display Interface, scheduled to be available early next year.

The Video Door Unit is an extension of On-Q’s Studio Collection, a collection of devices that combine innovative functionality with elegant design. As part of the Studio Collection, the Video Door Unit is available in the following five attractive, weatherproof finishes sure to match any home’s outdoor décor: antique brass, brushed stainless, oil-rubbed bronze, shiny brass and white. It also includes 20 digital door tones that can be customized to a homeowner’s individual preference, or easily changed to enjoy the various holiday tones.
