Is your business affected by the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Lead New Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule?

The answer is YES if:

- Your company works in residences built in 1978 or earlier

- Your company works in buildings occupied by pregnant women or children under the age of six

- Your company renovates, repairs, or paints in areas more than six square feet on an interior room or 20 square feet on an exterior wall

There are three steps to getting EPA Certified: an online course, a lab class, and a final exam. CEDIA is making it simple and cost-effective for you and your company to take the first step in becoming EPA Certified. 

On October 15, CEDIA in partnership with the National Council on Healthy Housing, is launching education courses to help companies pass phase one of the EPA Certification. This online course will educate participants on the rules and precautions associated with working on projects that may contain lead-based paint. 

Total compliance for companies who work within the above conditions is April 22, 2010.
