The latest DisplaySearch PriceWise information is now available at www.displaysearch.com/pricewise for download. This time, the PriceWise page features a highlight from DisplaySearch’s LCD TV data:

·       Prices are down seasonally with over-supply.

·       TV brands and OEMs continue to negotiate for better panel prices for restocking.

·       Price negotiations for many LED-backlight panels remain difficult.

LCD TV panel prices continue to drop in the first half of July as the supply is larger than demand. The market is in its traditional slow season with some strategic promotional spot deals in discussion. Slow demand in China and Europe remains a concern, and TV brands and OEMs should be able to clear inventories by lowering set prices. To meet high annual sales targets, TV vendors are expected to start restocking panels in August. However, in order to stimulate demand with retail price reductions in the promotional season, TV brands and OEMs continue to negotiate for better panel prices.

Price negotiations for many LED-backlight panels remain difficult. The margin pressure will be more pronounced for TV vendors as sales of LED-backlight LCD TV products are reported to be price sensitive.
