Crestron Adds Integrated Security Option

By RS Staff, July 28, 2010

Thanks to a new partnership, Crestron can now offer what it calls “seamless integration” with the ST8 security system by Sequel Technologies.

Compatible with both Crestron and Prodigy product lines, the ST8 can be programmed just like any other native Crestron device on the network, thanks to built-in Crestron IP control. High-speed ethernet greatly simplifies data sharing between the ST8 and Crestron controllers, for faster system response time and a better user experience, according to Crestron.

The system can be designed to arm and disarm the entire home or just specific entry points. From a bedside keypad or touchpanel, a home can be put into "sleep" mode, simultaneously arming the system, turning off unnecessary lights, and making sure the garage door is closed, the manufacturer says.

“Creating new business opportunities for our dealers is a constant priority for us,” said Crestron director of marketing Vincent Bruno. “Combining native Crestron control with this extremely advanced security system – at a very affordable price – delivers real value, to both our dealers and their clients.”

Using the menu-driven Prodigy Composer wizard (coming soon), integrators can add the ST8 without programming, Crestron says. The company’s SystemBuilder support delivers drag-and-drop system customization, and pre-loaded graphics provide interface options. For even more fine-tuning, advanced programmers can take advantage of the SIMPL Windows environment.

“We’re delighted to team up with a leader like Crestron, and provide this powerful, simple-to-install security system,” said Duane Paulson, president of Sequel Technologies Inc. “A security system with native Crestron control allows integrators to deliver a complete home automation solution with the added benefit of monthly monitoring sub-contracts.”

Crestron and Prodigy dealers can purchase the system today, directly from Sequel. For more information, visit www.crestron.com/sequel or www.sequeltechnologies.com/crestron.
