Sonic Security At Rock Hall Of Fame

September 20, 2008

Paladin Protective Systems has designed and installed a video motion-detection system at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH which features 13 Electro-Voice EVID 4.2T surface-mounted loudspeakers to which Amseco 24-volt strobe lights are attached. The base of the strobe-light casing fits neatly onto the arm bracket of the EVID, creating a single audiovisual alarm unit.

Paladin's Bob Myers, Jr. explained how this harmonious meeting of hardware came about. "We use a lot of EV product with Paladin Professional Sound (a division of Paladin Protective Systems). These units are the final step in an extensive CCTV system we installed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The CCTV system here monitors their priceless collection of rock memorabilia, and, in turn, that CCTV system needs to be protected. These units take care of that, without taking up much space."

When a video motion-detection camera is violated, a strobe is triggered, along with a pre-recorded message, which is distributed through the EVIDs. "Instead of mounting two separate devices, we brought the two elements together," Myers explained. With the strobes mounted on the underside of each side-mounted EVID, the speakers are then mounted on pipes using Strong-Arm-Mounts.

There are 13 of these units installed right now, distributed around the exhibit hall. Since there are always curators in the exhibit hall, these units act as an additional visual deterrent and assist the curators in determining the exact location of any security breach.
